“Nobody looks at me, because people see themselves in me, and they are afraid. Look. ‘Hello sir, do you have any change please?’ ‘Hello sir, do you have any change please?’ You see? It’s everyday like this, nobody cares about me here. Two years ago, I had a good situation, but then I was fired for a shipless and illegal Mexican. I lost everything. I have only this bag left, and most of the people don’t help me. I live with $40 every week, a shower in NYC is $10. My birthday is on the 27th, last year I put a sign to signal hope to have some old clothes, food, but nothing. I’m not complaining, I’m alive and I am trying to find solutions, but you know when you’re so low, being back takes time and more.”
